White City Parks and Recreation Board
The White City & Emerald Park Parks and Recreation Board is a non-profit organization designed to enhance the recreational opportunities for all members of our community. The volunteer committee overseas funding from the Southeast Connection for Culture, Recreation and Sport, Sask Lotteries, RM of Edenwold and the Town of White City as well as through our own fundraising. This funding has been used to run a number of events such as Mobile Playground and the Watermelon Walk/Run. These funds have also been used to construct the Splash Park and several play structures. The Board also oversees the publication of the White City/Emerald Park Community Newletter and a community directory.
The Board is very pleased to announce the newest recreational addition to the community - a Skateboard/BMX Park, located near the Post Office. Thank you to the Town of White City and the White City & Emerald Park Parks & Recreation Board for funding this project.
Member groups include: Dance, Ringette, Playschool, White City Library Board, Drama, Prairie Minor Football Association, Zumba, Dog Training and others. Saskatchewan Lotteries Grant funding is obtained yearly and distributed to various group members.
The Board has four executive positions as well as representatives from all the various groups. Members at Large make up a good portion of the Board. Anyone who is interested in promoting and being involved in local recreational initiatives should feel free to contact and/or join the Board. Meetings are informal and held monthly. It is a great way to be involved in the community and have a finger on the pulse of recreational opportunities for all residents.
