Position Summary

The primary function of this position is preparation and maintenance of all sports fields, parks, and recreation areas such as ball diamonds, outdoor rinks, football fields, soccer fields, tennis/pickleball courts, skate park, splash park, and all playground areas.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ball diamond preparation including lining diamonds, installation of bases, prepping the in-field.
  • Maintain ball diamond batting cages, batter’s boxes and pitching mounds.
  • Monitor all outdoor sports field schedules.
  • Irrigation/Athletic Fields.
  • Perform daily maintenance duties including sanitizing park features, high touch areas and all playground equipment.
  • Park maintenance activities such as cutting grass, turf care, emptying garbage cans, trimming weeds, watering flowers and trees, and picking up garbage.
  • Equipment operation which may include trucks, mowers, hand, and power tools.  All equipment must be operated safely with preventative and regular maintenance performed as required.
  • Assistance with play structure safety inspections.
  • Assistance with town events which include but not limited to Summer Sizzle, Council BBQ, Movie in Park, and a Fun Run.
  • Community Centre custodial back-up.
  • Bathroom and kitchen janitorial duties.
  • Preparation of time sheets indicating work performed, hours worked and absences.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Self-starter and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A proactive team member that contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment when completing work assignments.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Be dependable and reliable.

Education and Experience:

  • A valid class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s license is required.
  • Experience operating power equipment is required.
  • General mechanical knowledge is an asset.
  • Basic computer knowledge is required.

Working Conditions:

  • April 29, 2024 - August 23, 2024. 
  • Flexible on start and end dates if needed.
  • Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.
  • Occasional overtime hours will be required. 
  • Occasional weekend and evening hours will be required dependent on program and event schedules.
  • Limited travel may be required.
  • Occasional peak periods requiring an accelerated work pace with deadlines creating pressure.

 Salary:

  • $17-19/hour based on experience.  
  • Vacation earned: 3/52 times earning paid on every cheque.
  • Payment through electronic deposit every 2 weeks.
  • Overtime: 1.5 times wage when worked.
