The Town of White City received $122,250 through the Government of Canada’s Canada Community Revitalization Fund towards the renovation of the town’s splash park. An additional $90,000 was provided through the Government of Saskatchewan’s Municipal Economic Enhancement Program and $87,750 from the Town of White City’s asset renewal reserve.
The upgrade and expansion of the spray park will allow more residents and visitors to use the spray park and will include accessible water features so that people of all abilities can enjoy the facility.
"Our government is supporting infrastructure projects to help Canadians re-engage in and explore their communities through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund,” said the Honourable Daniel Vandal, Minister for PrairiesCan. “Community recreation spaces that everybody can enjoy, like the new accessible splash park in White City, will help maintain the physical and mental health of residents.”
“We greatly appreciate the contribution from Prairies Economic Development Canada,” said Mayor Brian Fergusson. “The splash park is a very popular feature in our community. We are excited to have support from federal and provincial partners in rejuvenating this facility and being able to add new accessibility features.”
Work commenced on the project in 2021 with the demolition of the previous splash pad at the end of the season. The project was completed in June 2022.
The original splash park, constructed by a team of community volunteers, provided a quality facility for a number of years.
The Town of White City held the grand opening of the new splash park in conjunction with a summer festival on June 11, 2022.
